Year 2

In Year 2  we work together with some of our Year 1 pupils in Class 2 on a morning. On an afternoon we split into a pure Year 2 group and our teacher is Mrs Copeland. We love working together, trying our best and being creative. In Year 2 and across Horndale, we use dojo points to help us celebrate our achievements. Some of us are also lucky enough to be picked for the School Council where we have lots of important jobs to complete in school.

In Year 2 and across Horndale, we celebrate our achievements and publish work via Seesaw. Mrs Oughton will send your child’s code home with them.

This half term we will be focusing on number using column methods for addition and subtraction, learning how to tell the time and how to add different amounts of money. In English we will be using the texts Lost and Found, the Hodgeheg and Amazing Grace. In History we are learning about Victorian inventors such as George Stephenson, Alexander Graham Bell and Florence Nightingale. We will be building trains in Design Technology and working on our coding skills in Computing.   In Science we will be looking at the habitats of different animals.

In the second half term, we will be looking at our world and learning about the continents and oceans in Geography. We will be building sculptures in Art and creating our own Wild Thing Island. Any shoebox donations would be much appreciated! In English we are looking at Where the Wild Things Are, Flat Stanley and the Day the Crayons came home.

We have all settled back into school really well and we are looking forward to sharing some of our super work with you.
