Sports Premium Further Information

As part of the Sport Premium Government funding there will be two installments made to the school to create a lasting legacy of the London Olympics 2012.

Ofsted will be inspecting the impact of the Sports Premium and inspectors will consider:

‘How well the school uses the new Primary School Sport funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and Sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance they are capable of.’

This all highlights the increased profile of PE this year due to the Sport Premium and Ofsted’s monitoring; and so makes it all the more important that we achieve outstanding P.E throughout Horndale County Infant and Nursery School. Ofsted will use 7 headings in any inspection:

  • The increase in participation rates in such activities as games, dance, gymnastics, swimming and athletics
  • The increase and success in competitive school sports.
  • How much more inclusive the PE curriculum has become
  • The growth in the range of provisional and alternative sporting activities
  • The improvement in partnership work on physical education with other schools and local partners
  • Links with other subjects that contribute to pupils’ overall achievement and their greater social, spiritual, moral and cultural skills
  • The greater awareness amongst pupils about the dangers of obesity, smoking and other activities that undermine pupils’ health.
  • Schools are also required to record and monitor how they are spending Sports Premium. You can view or download our Sports Premium allocation and find
  • out how this has been used at our school.
